Certificate of Excellence in Hypnotherapy
Are you fascinated by the inner workings of the subconscious mind? If so, you’ve come to the right place. At Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA), we offer two levels of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy training – our Hypnotherapy 100 Hour program and our Clinical Hypnotherapy 300 Hour program. In just a few short months, you could launch a new career that positively impacts people’s lives!
OPTION 1: Hypnotherapy 100 Hour Program
Our Hypnotherapy 100 Hour program includes Hypnotherapy Foundations Levels I, II and III. Upon completion of the program, students receive a certificate of training and may begin a private practice. After successful completion of the 100 hours the student will be eligible for certification through National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists (NATH) or American Board of Hypnotherapy (ABH). This option is also available online. Many of our Hypnotherapy Specialist graduates go on to sign up for the additional 200 hours of training in our Clinical Hypnotherapy 300 Hour program and become nationally certified Hypnotherapists.

FAQ: Hypnotherapy Myths and Fears
Isn’t Hypnotherapy a form of mind control?
Hypnotherapy is a proven therapeutic treatment, but for some people the word "hypnosis" carries many unjustified stigmas. The fact is, no one can be hypnotized against their will, therefore all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The client willingly allows relaxation and the hypnotic state to take place, and may choose to stop the session at any time of their own free will.
Can the Hypnotherapist make me do things I don’t want to do?
This is a common fear of many people unfamiliar with hypnosis in a therapeutic setting. People picture the popular stage hypnotist with an audience of people doing funny and even embarrassing things. Again, you are in control at all times. The therapist simply guides you through the session with your highest good at the forefront.
What if the therapist leaves me in a hypnotic state? Won't I be stuck like that forever?
No. The hypnotic state is completely natural, and you enter it several times a day without even realizing it. Even if the therapist were to walk out of the room during a session, one of two things would happen.
- Due to the relaxed nature of the therapy, you might fall asleep but would soon wake up without assistance; or
- You would soon realize s/he was no longer talking, so would open your eyes and be awake.
What if I spill my innermost secrets during the session?
The therapist's goal is to guide your mind on the path you wish to take, and it is not possible for you to say or do anything against your free will during a session. Many patients seek Hypnotherapy to purposely retrieve repressed or forgotten memories. While the subconscious mind may retrieve these memories, it is up to the client whether or not to vocalize these insights to the therapist.
What if I can’t be "hypnotized?"
At the very core of hypnosis is relaxation. The hypnotic state is very natural and can be likened to being on the verge of falling asleep, without actually going over the edge. No matter how much stress one may be experiencing in everyday life, we are all capable of relaxing deeply should we choose to do so. Typically all that is needed to induce hypnosis is to make the physical body comfortable, eliminate environmental distractions, and offer guided imagery that assists the mind in letting go.
Is Hypnotherapy considered valid by mainstream medicine?
Absolutely. In fact, Hypnotherapy is accepted by the American Medical Association (AMA) as an officially recognized therapeutic model for healing. Hypnotherapy is a highly respected, incredible healing art whose practitioners truly make a difference in the world.
What is the career outlook for Hypnotherapists?
More and more, people are beginning to look outside the realm of traditional medicine, steering toward the path of holistic health care. The average person today is suffering from one or more chronic physical dis-eases and/or emotional imbalances. People seeking solutions to these problems may find prescription drugs either ineffective, full of unpleasant side effects, or downright dangerous. Therefore, the demand for more holistic health care modalities and practitioners is on the rise. For many of our graduates, Hypnotherapy proves to be a rewarding and profitable career.
