Go beyond the Hippocratic Oath of “First, Do No Harm,” we strive to “Do More Good.” Holistic health is not itself a method of treatment, rather it is an approach or philosophy as to how treatment should be applied. At Southwest Institute of Healing Arts we use the term Holistic to mean whole - made up of interdependent parts. In fact, we could choose to spell holistic with a 'w' for wholistic health care based on our commitment to the whole person - mind/ body/ spirit. When this meaning is applied to illness, it is called holistic, or alternative, medicine, and includes a number of factors: dealing with the root cause of an illness, increasing patient involvement, and considering both conventional (allopathic) and complementary (alternative) therapies. Implementing the use of these time-tested alternative health and natural healing methods brings all aspects of our lives in line with the primary values of decreasing our carbon footprint on the earth and increasing sustainability through 'green' health.
