"The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds." -Albert Schweitzer Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA) offers the Therapeutic Myotherapy specialty for those who want to learn the advanced techniques of Myotherapy combined with the techniques of Therapeutic Massage. Our program is specifically designed for therapists who seek employment with chiropractors and physicians or those who want to start their own private practice. What is Myotherapy? Myotherapy is a generic term for whatever it takes to restore balance to a person’s physical or emotional body. It is based on the belief that to release and rehabilitate the physical body, the body’s skeleton must move, or be moved, in such a way to release trapped muscles and, many times, emotions. What We Teach Our Certificate of Excellence in Therapeutic Myotherapy Massage equips graduates with the skills to be able to assist clients in rehabilitating the skeleton and muscles by using a wide array of techniques. This is one of the original programs offered at SWIHA and it has been time tested for its comprehensive course of study. You will learn the basic and leading therapeutic and myotherapy techniques to enhance and strengthen your own practice, or you can use these skills to assist you in joining an established practice. This specialty combines Therapeutic Massage with Myotherapy and is based on a wide variety of modalities.
