Southwest Institute of Healing Arts is exceptionally devoted to providing high quality Reiki training in Arizona. Our 100 hour Certificate of Excellence in Reiki has been designed as a part of the 600 hour Advanced Bodywork Practitioner program, as well as a specialty within the massage therapy programs. The practice of Reiki does not require licensing in Arizona, however, our transformational and traditional Reiki courses will equip you with the experience and knowledge to incorporate Reiki healing into your life, whether as part of a career or simply as a positive life skill. Reiki is a specialty of choice for the Mind-Body Transformational Psychology Degree program and the 600 hour Mind-Body Wellness Practitioner program due to the deepening spiritual component. What is Reiki? At the root of the term, Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy." So Reiki can be described simply as "spiritually guided life force energy." Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady, although this is not the focus of the healing art as taught at SWIHA. Reiki administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. To participate as a volunteer check the website for upcoming Community Reiki Clinics or call the Student Clinic to schedule a session with a student or Graduate Practitioner. What We TeachAn amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class by a Reiki Master Teacher. This healing ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki Master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life. Each year, SWIHA graduates many Reiki Masters as a part of its continuing commitment to help people learn to touch lives, heal bodies and free souls. We offer both Transformational and Traditional Reiki courses. Transformational Reiki includes sounding, chanting, and accelerated recognition of the sacred symbols. Traditional Reiki is taught based on the traditions handed down for generations. Reiki -Traditional
