Polarity APP

Southwest Institute of Healing Arts is proud to be the only college in Arizona with an approved Associate Polarity Practitioner Program. Students who complete this program as a specialty or Certificate of Excellence may become nationally certified by the American Polarity Therapy Association (APTA).

The 200 hour Certificate of Excellence/Primary Specialty in Polarity program is designed for students enrolled our Massage Diploma or Mind-Body Transformational Psychology and Holistic Health Care AOS Degree program, as well as for continuing education students.  Polarity is a clothed modality and does not specifically require a massage license to practice the modality, although the majority of practitioners do combine Polarity with the practice of massage and are licensed massage therapists.

The 200 hour Associate Polarity Practitioner Certificate of Excellence is a very popular choice for students enrolled in the 600 hour Mind-Body Wellness Practitioner program as their Specialty.

Polarity Therapy has four distinct areas of technique by which proponents believe life force energy can be influenced: touch (acupressure or point specific focusing), stretching and exercise, diet, and mental-emotional process.

What is Polarity Therapy?

Polarity therapy is a synthesis of ancient Eastern and alternative medicine health care ideas centered on the concept of a Human Energy Field. It is a holistic health system developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, a practitioner of osteopathic, chiropractic and naturopathic medicine. Using touch, verbal interaction, exercise, nutrition and other methods, practitioners of Polarity Therapy seek to balance and restore the natural flow of energy which, it is claimed, flows from the universe and into the body through the chakras.

Polarity Therapists work with the reciprocal, complementary or "polarized" forces, known as Yin and Yang. Although, the concept of polarity implies two forces in opposition, these dualities are said by some to be mediated by a subtle third neutral factor, leading to the idea that phenomena are essentially triune in nature. In Ayurveda, the three factors are known as Rajas, Tamas, and Satva which is underlying theory on which this program is based.
