The Holistic Nutrition Educator program was created for many different applications. It can be a “stand-alone” curriculum for students desiring an entry level position into personal nutrition coaching, or continuing education for practicing health care workers who want to include personal nutrition consultation in their practice. The program covers the basics of human nutrition, dietary therapies, obesity and eating disorders, and a survey of contemporary dietary practices including alternate theories for body detoxification. This certificate prepares the student to work with individuals on healthy eating practices, including recommendations for weight management and preventative health.

Many people who are trying to live healthier lives are embracing holistic nutrition and medicine. A large part of  preventative medicine and health is how you treat your body. Nutrition is part and parcel of the field of holistic medicine.  As many holistic nutritionists will tell you, the processed food made in America today can lead to a number of ailments, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and skin problems.

At SWIHA students learn valuable holistic nutrition education that typically provide information on the benefits of eating unprocessed food, where to find natural foods, and how to find a nutritional balance among the natural food out there.  Nutritionists will be able to tell patients how to eat so that they can get enough protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and vitamins to help themselves stay healthy.

Career opportunities will include an enhanced holistic health care practice as a massage therapist or nurse, support group facilitation for Eating Management groups, employment in health food stores, and patient educators in health clinic settings.  After completion of this certificate the student is prepared for an entry-level position.  It is highly recommended that this course be combined with the Life Coaching Program.
